A 42-day solo cycling adventure across NEPAL

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you heave to sweat up the hills and can coast down them.

Namaste!!!
A greeting that means “hello” or “welcome” in Nepali is something that you will often hear while in Nepal, and with a hearty namaste, join me on an amazing ride on my recently completed 42-day solo cycling adventure across Nepal.

This journey I have categorised into five sections:
1. The route
2. The hotels where I stayed
3. Places to visit
4. Activities to do
5. Some tips and recommendations

I hope that this post inspires you to someday go on an adventure of your own to this beautiful country.

To plan the route I used Google maps and divided it into four legs.
1. Siliguri to Kathmandu
2. Kathmandu to Pokhara
3. Pokhara to Lumbini
4. Lumbini to Gorakhpur

My cycling plan was to begin cycling at 6am and continue until around 1pm, after which I would check into a hotel for the day.

Day 1 / Aug 27 – Goa to Siliguri

My adventure began with a flight to Siliguri. Arriving in the afternoon, I checked into a Mount View hotel. Set up my bike and got it fine tuned with Shekhar at Freewheel Cycle Shop – ph: 7478093333.
