Usgalimal Petroglyphs

The Usgalimal Petroglyphs are one of the most important ancient sites in western India. These petroglyphs (rock art) etched on laterite stone, located on the banks of the river Kushavati, show the oldest signs of human habitation in India. These petroglyphs date back to the Upper Paleolithic or Mesolithic eras, and are thought to be between 20,000 and 30,000 years old.

The site, spread over an area of 300 square metres, includes images of human figures, animals and birds. It was discovered in the early 1990s.

The labyrinth found here features in logo of the Goa Heritage Action Group.
