Sailing Through Art: Tam Thanh’s Coracle Boat Transformation

In 2016, the serene fishing village of Tam Thanh underwent a remarkable transformation, evolving into a vibrant canvas of colors and creativity. This metamorphosis unfolded as Tam Thanh became the pioneering painted village in Vietnam, marked by a wall mural project initiated under the collaborative banner of “Art For a Better Community,” which brought together the talents of Vietnamese and South Korean artists.

Continuing the artistic journey, the subsequent year saw the launch of the Tam Thanh Village Community Art Project. Over the course of three months, artists and volunteers poured their skills and passion into adorning the traditional coracle boats with captivating artworks, adding to the cultural tapestry of the village. These transformed boats would later take center stage at the Tam Ky Sea Festival, gracing the shores with their beauty and narrative.

Generously donated by local fishermen, these coracle boats now serve as enduring symbols of cultural heritage and artistic prowess. Stretching along the coast, they create a mesmerizing “boat road” spanning 1.5 kilometers, inviting both locals and visitors to embark on a visual journey through Vietnam’s art and creative spirit.
